Panther F Schmalturm

Shifting Sands this year is a late '44 what-if scenario and allowed for some great prototype designs to be fielded in Flames of War.  I chose to paint a pair of Panther Fs, equipped with the schmalturm, an experimental turret that was to become standard on the next generation of German tanks had the war progressed that far.  These are armed with the 8.8cm L/71 gun.  I went with the so-called 'octopus' camo pattern, a design that appeared in the last days of the war.  It was to be the new standard by August of 1945.  Again, these are from Forged in Battle, crew by Battlefront.  Used Ammo of Migs paint line for the first time, nice colors, but I'll thin them down some more next time.
First time using a putty mask, am happy with the results.
The spots are freehand, as are the primer sections.
I'll be adding some more weathering to these eventually, was hurried a bit because of the tournament.
Ammo of Mig paints are nice, though they sprayed a bit thick.

  2. Were the spots uniform circles or more freehand-look like you've done.

Regardless mate, these are fantastic. Never seen the camo style before and I must say I like it very much.

  3. Not uniform, each one was very different. It was only encountered once during the war on a King Tiger, so I'm not surprised you haven't seen it before.
